Equity: Arts and cultural organizations and artists from all disciplines and cultural traditions are valued equally and supported equitably.
Diversity: Arts and cultural organizations reflect and embrace the diversity of the County in staffing, leadership, programming, including artists, and audiences/participants.
With over 10 million residents, Los Angeles is the largest county in the United States and arguably, the most diverse. County residents speak 224 different languages. Los Angeles County is recognized around the world as a leader in the visual, performing, literary and media arts; in fact, the creative industries, including entertainment, are the 6th largest employer in the County.
On November 10, 2015, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors committed itself to being at the forefront of implementing model programs and leading constructive County-wide conversations to ensure that arts and cultural organizations reflect and embrace the diversity of our communities, including in the key areas of leadership, workforce, programming, including artists, and audience/participant composition.
Through the Cultural Equity and Inclusion Initiative, the Board seeks to have the County take a leadership role in creating and implementing effective and innovative strategies to ensure that arts and cultural organizations in the County reflect and serve the diversity of our communities.

Los Angeles County includes 88 incorporated municipalities and many unincorporated areas.
Arts includes expressions of creativity in all forms—visual, performance, literary, media arts—both professional and avocational, from folk and traditional to experimental.
Cultural Equity — All people have the right to inherit, develop and engage in intellectual, emotional, material, and spiritual traditions and heritage.
